Overview

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid which converts to tyrosine and follows the catecholamine pathway, and is a precursor to thyroid hormone. Phenylalanine, Tyrosine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine. Phenylalanine deficiency symptoms are confusion, lack of energy, decreased alertness, decreased memory, and diminished appetite. It should not be used with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants, or those who have PKU or hypertension.
